Collision at Home Plate
With no outs and a runner on third base (R3) and first base (R1), the batter (B1) grounds to the shortstop. The shortstop throws home in an attempt to retire R3, who is heading for home.
The shortstop's throw arrives well before R3 gets near the plate, but R3 does not slide nor does R3 give up nor does R3 attempt to avoid colliding with the catcher. Instead, R3 comes into home standing up and knocks the catcher to the ground and the ball falls out of the catcher's mitt. Meanwhile, R1 has advanced to third base, while B1 is standing on first base.
What does the umpire do with R3, R1, and B1?
