Catcher's Interference with Out-of-Play

With a runner on 1st base (R1) and 2nd base (R2), the batter (B1) swings at the pitch, hits the catcher's glove with his bat, but still manages to hit a weak grounder to the 1st baseman. The 1st baseman fields the ball and touches 1st base to retire B1. The 1st baseman then throws across the diamond to attempt to retire R2 at 3rd base, but he air-mails his throw out-of-play.

Where do the umpires award R1 and R2? What about the catcher's interference/obstruction at the start of the play?

In the play below, B1 was retired on the first play by the defensive, and then the ball was thrown out of play. The other runners are awarded two bases from their position at the time of the first baseman's thrown -- So the results of the play are: B1 is out, R2 scores and R1 is placed at 3rd base.

Since B1 was obstructed by the catcher, the penalty (since B1 was not safe at 1st base) is that B1 is awarded first base and all forced runners advance -- So the penalty is: B1 is awarded 1st base, R1 goes to 2nd base, and R2 goes to 3rd base. The offensive coach has the option to accept the results of the play or the results of the penalty.
