Runner Scoring During Double Play

With the bases loaded and one out, the batter hits a fair ground ball that is fielded by the first baseman about 10 feet from first base. Because the first baseman is so close to first base and moving in that direction, he tags first base for the 2nd out, then throws to second base -- where the runner from first base is tagged for an inning-ending double play. The runner from third base touched home before that third out at second base. The defensive coach reminds the umpire that runs do not count on an inning ending double play.

In the play below, when the batter-runner was retired at first base by the first baseman, the force was removed from the three runners ahead of him. The runner from first base was properly tagged out for the third out of the inning. That third out was a timing play (no longer a force play), so since the runner from third base scored before the third out was recorded -- that run counts.
