Runner Misses Base on Award

With the bases loaded and one out, the batter (B1) grounds to the shortstop who starts what could be an inning-ended 6-4-3 double play. R1 is out on the force play at second base (for the second out of the inning), but the second baseman then air-mails his throw over toward first base and out of play. The umpires correctly award R3 and R2 home and correctly award B1 second base.

However, as R2 approached third base, he was looking back and watching the second baseman tag second base and begin his wild throw toward first base -- so he missed touching third base! After all playing action ends, the defense properly appeals that R2 missed third base and R2 is properly called out for the third out to end the inning.

Is that third out appeal to end the inning a force play or a timing play (and why does it make a difference anyway)? How many runs score on this play?

Call
Even on awarded bases, the runners must properly run the bases and the umpires must be aware if the runners are forced to advance or not. In the situation below, since R1 was forced out before R2 reached 3rd base, the force at 3rd base was removed for R2. R2 was called on appeal for the last out of the inning. Since that out was not a force out, in NF, runs scored before R2's out count.
