Pitcher Returning after Leaving Game

 
After walking the first three batters in the third inning, the coach of the defense makes his first defensive visit of the game. He sends his pitcher (P1) to the bench and brings in a substitute (S1) off the bench to pitch. After S1 allows several runs, the defensive coach would like to return the starting pitcher (P1) to pitch.
 
Can the pitcher return to pitch in the same inning that he was removed? If not in the same inning, can the pitcher return in the next inning?

In NF, a pitcher may return to pitch once per inning, provided that returning to pitch does not violate the NF pitching, substitution, or charged conference rules (NF 3-1-2).
 
In the situation below, the pitcher may return to pitch in the same inning and in any future inning (as long as no other pitching, substitution, or conference rules are violated).
