Batter Interference on Swing with Steal

With no outs and a runner (R1) on first base, the batter (B1) has an 0-2 count. The hit-and-run is on, so R1 is stealing on the pitch. The 0-2 pitch is in the dirt and outside, B1 swings, misses the pitch, but B1 ends up standing overtop home plate.

The catcher fields the pitch in the dirt, pulls his arm back to throw to 2nd base, but is unable to throw because B1 is in his way. The catcher does not make the throw nor is there contact between the catcher and B1.

Call
If a third strike is not caught by the catcher while first base is occupied with less than two outs, the batter is out (NF 8-4-1e).

If a pitch is a third strike and the batter interferes with the catcher's attempt to retire a runner, a second out may be called (NF 7-3-5PEN and 8-4-2g).

In the situation below, B1 was retired when he swung and missed at his 0-2 pitch. Since B1 then interfered with the catcher's attempt to retire R1, R1 is also out. Be prepared to explain that call to the offensive coach!
