Spectator Interference
With a runner on second base (R2), the batter (B1) hits a fair base hit down the left field line. The ball hits fair and rolls into foul territory. A helpful spectator thinks that the ball is foul, so he picks it up and returns the ball to the left fielder with a short underhand throw. R2 is going to score easily, so the left fielder throws to second base where B1 is tagged out.
Which is true:
A) This is a delayed dad ball, so the umpires should let the play continue and award bases or call outs after the play concludes
B) This is an immediate dead ball as soon as the spectator touches the ball.
Which of these four are true:
C) The spectator interference did not change the play, so B1 is out and R2 scores
D) B1 and R2 are awarded two bases from the time the spectator touched the ball
E) B1 and R2 are awarded two bases from the time of the pitch
F) None of the above
