Playing while Bleeding?
R1 legally slides into second base and is tagged out for the first out of the inning. As R1 is walking back to his dugout, the umpire notices that R1 is bleeding at the knee through his baseball pants. The umpire asks R1 about the blood and R1 remarks that the slide must have reopened a large scab from a previous cut on his knee.
When R1 returns to play defense, he has a very noticeable patch of blood on the knee of his pants. The umpire questions R1 and his coach, but both tell the umpire that the cut has been bandaged underneath his pants and the blood on his pants is dry.
The coach insists that R1 can return because enough has been done (the bleeding has stopped and the blood has dried).
What do the umpires do now?
