Stealing Runner Over-Slides Base on Walk

With a 3-2 count and 1 out, the runner on first base (R1) is stealing on the pitch. The pitch is close to a strike, but called a ball (so the batter walks) but catcher the throws to second base anyway. R1 over slides just past second base and is then tagged.

The offensive coach argues the R1 should be remain at second base because he was awarded second base, due to the batter's walk.

The defensive coach wants R1 called out. What do the umpires do now?

Call
A runner is awarded one base when he is forced from the base he occupies by a following runner that advances because of a fourth ball (NF 8-3-1b).

In the situation below, R1 is awarded second base, but R1 is not protected beyond second base. Since he was tagged after passing second base, he is out.
