Quiz - Ball in Hand vs. Ball in Glove


 
Situation #1 (from Dan K.):
 
With a runner at first, the batter grounds to the shortstop, who under hands a throw to the 2nd baseman who is standing near 2nd base. However, the shortstop's throw is wild and the 2nd baseman catches the ball with his bare hand and tags 2nd base with his empty glove. Is the runner out?

With runners at 2nd and 1st base, the batter grounds a chopper to the shortstop. The shortstop catches the ball between hops with his bare hand, slaps the runner advancing to third with his empty glove and throws over to first to complete the double play. How many are out on this play?
