Base Umpire Interference?

1. With no out and no one on base, the batter hits a fly ball down the right field line. The field umpire runs down the right field line to make a fair/foul/catch/no-catch call. The ball lands uncaught in fair territory while B1 takes a wide turn past 1st base. The right fielder throws to first base in an attempt to easily retire B1, but that thrown ball strikes the field umpire and goes out of play. What is the call?

Neither of these situations are umpire interference as defined in NF 5-1-1f1 or 5-1-2c.

1. A thrown ball that strikes an umpire is not umpire interference. Since the right fielder's throw struck the umpire and went out of play, each runner is awarded two bases from the time of the throw. B1 is awarded 3rd base.

2. Later in the same game, with no outs and no one on base, B1 hits a hard fair ground ball down the first base line. The ball goes through the first baseman's legs, ricochets off of the base umpire, where the 2nd baseman fields the ball and throws to first base to easily retire B1. What is the call on this play?

2. Since the batted ball had passed all the defensive fielders that had an attempt to field it, the play continues. The out of B1 at first base stands.
