Batted Ball Hits Field Umpire

With the bases loaded and two outs, the infield is playing deep. The batter hits a ground ball towards the shortstop. However, before the ball reaches the shortstop, the ground ball grazes the field umpire's pant-leg. The shortstop fields the ball and steps on 2nd base for an easy force out to end the inning. Since the ground ball was not really altered/impacted by the brush of the umpire's pants -- the play stands and the inning is over. Did the umpires get it right? If not, now what?

Call
Although the batted ball was not altered by grazing the field umpire's pants, since the batted ball had not yet passed an infielder (other than the pitcher), the ball is immediately dead. The batter is awarded first base and all the other runners are forced to the next base (so a runner scores). The defensive coach will not be happy, but refer him to NF - 5-1-1f and 8-1-2b.
