Illegal Equipment

With a 2-2 count, the plate umpire notices that the batter is wearing a single ear-flap helmet instead of the required double ear-flap helmet. Since the coaches certified at the plate conference that all the equipment was legal, what should the plate umpire do now?

Call
When in live-ball territory, all non-adults on the offensive team must wear proper protective helmets. If these non-adults are discovered without the proper helmet, "time" should be called and the improper equipment should be replaced with a NOCSAE helmet. The coach and the individual are issued a warning. In the situation below, "time" should be called and the batter should get a proper helmet. Unlike the discovery of an illegal bat, there are no other penalties.
