A Walk With Complications
A right-handed batter has a 3-1 count with a runner on first that is stealing 2nd base on the pitch. The umpire calls the pitch a ball (ball 4), but the catcher comes up throwing in an attempt the retire the runner stealing 2nd base. However, the catcher's throw hits the batter in the helmet as he exits the right handed batter's box and is crossing the plate on the way to first base on his base-on-balls. After the throw hits the helmet, the ball rolls into the dugout and out of play.
Is the batter out for interference? Since the ball went out of play, where should the batter and the runner (who was stealing) be placed?
