Batter Switch Hitting During At-Bat

1. With an 0-2 count on the right-handed batter (B1), the third base coach requests "time" to have a conference with B1. When B1 returns to the plate to bat, the switch-hitting batter assumes a spot in the left-handed batter's box. The defensive coach indicates that this is not legal, especially with two strikes! What should the umpires do now?

2. Similar to the situation above, during the third base coach's conference with his batter, the coach decides to put in a legal substitute to bat for B1 and assume his count of 0-2. The defensive coach argues that since B1 is not injured, B1 must complete his time at bat (especially since B1 has 2 strikes). Now what do the umpires do?

Call
There is no prohibition on the batter changing batter's boxes while the ball is dead. The coach may also make a legal substitution for the batter and the new batter assumes his teammate's count.
