Charged Defensive Conferences
The inning ends and as the third base coach makes his way back to his first-base-side dugout, he stops at the pitcher's mound to hand the ball to his returning pitcher and discuss strategy for pitching to the first batter of the inning. The opposing coach asks if this is a charged defense conference. Which of these apply (could be more than one):
A) Yes, this discussion between the third base coach and pitcher is a charged defensive conference
B) No, but the umpire should ask the third base coach to keep moving to his dugout, else this will be a charged defensive conference
C) No, it is not a charged conference, but the coach-pitcher discussion does not change the "5 warm-up pitches or 60 second limit" between innings.
D) No, but after 5 pitchers or 60 seconds, the coach must leave the field or the umpire may assess a charged defensive conference.
